What computer hardware does a “Smart” coffee maker have?
How does this device connect to the Internet? Uses Bluetooth to connect to an App where it allows users to choose from a selection of coffees and brewing techniques. The app also allows you to order new supplies. http://www.wired.co.uk/article/internet-connected-coffee-machine
What information gets sent to the coffee maker? Command codes, IP from source.
What gets sent from the coffee maker? IP Address and codes.
As we discussed during class yesterday evening, these new "smart" coffee makers contain small, embedded computer systems; similar as the computers found in small radio-controlled vehicles (R/C Drones, cars, etc.) that are designed to be really good at only performing a few (+ / - 50) tasks. I have no evidence, but it would not surprise me to identify a computing device such as the Raspberry Pi Zero in certain "Smart" devices; given their small footprint and minimal power consumption.
